From my short experience with this - manufacturers want to ensure this internationally too. So then same product would cost around the same in Germany and in Poland. Otherwise Germans will check fit of shoes in German B&M store, then go buy it online from some Polish store for X% cheaper.

Manufacturer does not want that, because then it will lose most of it's distributors in Germany.

NB: Though I am not debating if it's right, fair or best for consumer. Just mentioning, what I've experienced.

How can you decouple this, when there's a flood of headlines saying something like: "Company X layoffs Y% of workforce, betting on AI productivity".

For that Y% of people (and their dependants like kids, spouses and aging parents) - AI[1] is direct reason for "inequality accelerant".

-----

[1] Lets not discuss if AI in these layoff reasonings is actually true or not.

> <...> even though that someone never did something against them, <...>

Many tech billionaires openly, publicly and loudly said something among the lines: "I/we/my company/tech-bros are building torment nexus - it will take your job and/or kill people and/or shut up political opponents. You are powerless to stop this."

There are some of those billionaires willing to put their name and face in front of billions of people in the world. You will have no trouble finding people that will think that X or Y tech bro is personally responsible for some poor persons problems.

Especially when there's a bunch of news like "layoffs due to AI", "record investments due to AI", etc.

I am not supporting violence, never done it and never considered it. Though not surprising when talking heads of political/economical extremes can get threats from people that have nothing to lose.

Ah, good old Linux, where for free, you cannot experience what macOS offers since 1984.

/s of course. Just pointing out that your comment is just to flame.

I remember something like 10 years ago there was an article here in HN, where someone created a user on macOS with password out of emojis.

Then he couldn’t login, because login screen does not have a special character keyboard.

EDIT: found it https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10742351 (apparently I remember it slightly wrong, but idea still the same)

LotR is cool.

Palantir, Anduril industries and Mithril capital companies are not.

Colin from Earendil here. Will be up to us to prove whether we can become a Company Tolkien would be proud of.

I think author meant that you can't use claude code subscription with non claude code harness/clients (whatever you wanna call it).

From what I gathered, Lefos is some LLM tool with email interface, with maybe potentially giving Claw-like capabilities to read your inbox.

Earendil seems like some startup focused on open-source founded by a bunch of famous open-source devs. Though I am not sure if they're VC funded, but various mentions of "buying out" make me think that they are.

> Ok so bad intel or a similar mistake?

Forget "rules based order" or any sympathy from US Military/Pentagon/DoD.

When "arabs" bomb "the West" - it's "terrorism". When "the West" bomb "arabs" - it's a "mistake".

Same forces that did laser precision strikes against Maduro or countless military heads of Iran are attacking civilian infrastructure with double tap precision.

I am amazed how since WW2 there wasn't a military coup in USA as many wars from them were against any logic. I guess it just proves year after year, generation after generation that US military from top-to-bottom thinks that they are the only "good guys" and have been brainwashed just as their counterparts (be it Iraqis, Iranians, Chinese or anyone).
