It is a little appreciated story that Intel has used it’s stranglehold on CPUs to try and take over the whole BOM of PCs to the detriment of the industry.
Some of this hardware is good (Ethernet) some is underrated (review sites don’t appreciate that some Intel SSDs have much better 95% latency than their top picks that cost $5 less.)
But some of these chips are just crap and their presence drives away better competitors.
found this article while debugging another issue with Intel Corporation Wireless 8260 on my notebook. After fiddling with module parameters it looks it works but the whole mess in the article is on another level.
