Completely agree -- I just went into the cloud manager to spin up some boxes for a new project, and the instant sinking feeling in my stomach upon seeing the Akamai logo up there has changed how I'm going to respond to Linode's acquisition. When it was announced I had a panicky half-day of looking at what it would take to migrate to Hetzner or OVH, but ultimately decided to punt on that giant task until Akamai's rot started to set in.
Changing the logo and branding is purely cosmetic, sure, but it turns out that having to look at Akamai's logo and colours up there is enough to push me over the edge. Those new VMs are booting over at Hetzner as we speak, and I'll be migrating everything else over the next few weeks once I put a migration plan together. It's a pain in the ass, and I'm sure Akamai won't actually miss my ~750€ / month -- but I guess sooner is better than later.
At 750/mo of spend it’s weird to me you’d endure a significant migration because Akamai put their corporate branding on something they bought and when your customer experience hasn’t fundamentally changed.
