Tennis has the concept of "unforced errors" and when I think about political/military adventurism, this concept comes to mind.

If Italy hadn't been stupid in Somaliland, who knows what counterfactuals emerge?

Nobody in the mainstream US, European or Asian strategic planning spaces would have said this war was really necessary, well planned, or had clear achievable aims.

It's drained stockpiles. It's disturbed worldwide supply chains. It's diminished longterm US soft power. It invites adventurous forays by other world powers in their sphere of influence by showing a lack of resilience since US soft power has functionally now been withdrawn.

I do think this review has a point.
