Fond memories of Dr. Dobbs, back when I was a kid in high school. I still have some issues from Vol 1, but not the first one because my local computer store hadn't started carrying it.

I learned about FORTH from DDJ. And how to write a tiny BASIC interpreter. I wrote my own version of PILOT from hints given me by a DDJ article. How to write a simple assembler, how to do simple computer music. Oh, countless things.

But I haven't read them in decades. DDJ was like the Mad Magazine of the 70s computer scene; random, but always entertaining, and sometimes educational.

I won't miss them, but I have good memories of them.
