Im really surprised this still works with the ubiquitous use of ad block in the tech circle.


Ad block isn't quite as ubiquitous as HN seems to think it is


I also don't know if it would apply here. As these are "native" ads to LinkedIn. They don't really label them as ads much. I guess if the <div> mentions ads then it might be blocked.


I dont use linkedin much but I just tested it and it blocked 4 ads on the page.


Which is why I qualified it with "within the tech circle", I'd be really surprised if the precentage of Ad block users on this forum was less than 80%.


If HN is like other tech sites, then it'll be more like 20% than 80%.

My developer-oriented sites don't see abnormally high rates of ad blockers either.


Adblock and any other plugin that manipulates the DOM interferes with web frontend work, also marketing work.


If I like a site enough, I turn ad block off.

If the ads aren't annoying, I leave ad block off.
